If you go to the children section on Netflix there are shows that teach maths, science, music, and art to children of all ages.
I will share with you educational shows on Netflix that be watched as a family.
Educational shows on Netflix for toddlers:
1. Blippi :
Aimed at younger children, Blippi’s enthusiastic exploration of various subjects like machines, animals, and crafts is both educational and entertaining.
This show is about dealing with daily social issues while going on a fun adventure.
Justin, the main character in the show will teach children the importance of exploring nature and understanding about different cultures.
2. Puffin Rocks
This is an Irish show for children who do not have older siblings. They learn about empathy with other people through their adventure. It is definitely a fun show for younger children.
3. Word Party
This is a great teaching tool for preschoolers. It is about spelling and also learning new words.
The graphics are simplified and not too heavy on the eye. It is one of our favourite show for toddlers on Netflix.
4. Little Einstein
This show is about exposing toddlers to classical music. This is a great show to grow children’s interest in songs, particularly classical songs.
5. Super Why
With children growing up with tablets and devices, it can be challenging to draw their interest in books. This show invites children to read books, learn new words and also learn to spell.
Each episode is about a bookworm child who uses his power to solve various alphabet problems.

- The Magic School Bus Rides Again:
This modern continuation of the classic series takes kids on wild, educational adventures with Ms. Frizzle’s sister. It covers a wide range of science topics in a fun and engaging way.
2. Octonauts
This series follows a team of animated animals who explore the ocean, teaching children about various sea creatures and the importance of protecting the ocean.
3. Brainchild
This science-based show tackles subjects from germs to social media. It’s engaging and designed to make complex scientific concepts understandable and interesting for kids.
4. Ask the StoryBots
A fun and informative series where animated characters answer questions kids might have, such as how night happens or why we need to brush our teeth. It covers a variety of subjects including science, history, and more.
5. The Who Was? Show
Based on the popular “Who Was?” book series, this live-action and sketch comedy series introduces kids to famous historical figures through a blend of humor and facts.
6.Brain games
This is a National Geographic show about the human brain.
Kids love this because it is actually interactive. If you want to watch this with them you must be a science lover yourself.
7 Emily’s Wonder Lab
Hosted by science communicator Emily Calandrelli, this live-action series makes science fun and accessible. It includes exciting experiments and activities, making it perfect for young, curious minds.
8. The Short Game
If you are into golf or want your kids to love the game then this watch is a MUST. If you want to watch a 7-year-old golfer make a Hole-In-One then this is the show for your family.
This is a sports documentary produced by actress Jessica Biel. It focuses on young golfers and their hardship, journey in entering the World Championships of Junior Golf.
9. The Blue Planet
This is my favorite show. It is the best way to help my kids be more interested in the planet and the world that we live in.
Before a trip to sea world, this is a must-watch show. It is all about majestic creatures in the deep blue sea.
It is a BBC documentary created by the same production team of Planet Earth. My toddler is always fascinated when we have this show on.
Educational shows on Netflix for 8-13 years:
1.The Dragon Prince
It is an animated fantasy about two people who come together to prevent a war that is dividing their kingdom.
The story has unpredictable actions which is appealing to all ages.
β There are some form of violence and weapons used during the battle scenes but it is not very graphic and violent.
β Educational point: This series addresses issues such as revenge, honesty and integrity.
It shows how good intentions can lead us to the wrong decisions and how people are not necessarily evil.
The characters come from different ethnicities and the general communicates in a sign language due to his disability.
Age suitability : 10+
2. Dogs
It is a 6 episode documentary about the way humans and dogs are connected with each other.
Each episode is one hour long and has a different tone to it.
For instance, one episode is about a group of rescue workers trying to save medically challenged dogs while another episode is about the life of dogs in Syria and being surrounded by bombs and gunshots.
βSome of the episodes can make your kids a little sad but it is not graphic or extreme.
Netflix reassures its viewers no dogs die in the series.
It is best to watch this show with your kids so you can explain some of the situations to them and let them know that none of the dogs die.
β Educational point : Teaches children empathy towards animals and being kind to others.
Helps children understand the animals should be treated fairly and a fun way to introduce the different dog breeds to the kids.
Age suitability : 9+
3. The big family cooking show
This is a British cooking competition show.
Family members cook together and present it to professional judges. The show emphasis on family togetherness, creativity and diversity by cooking different meals.
The series focuses on cooking as a family activity to be a lot of fun.
Tensions can be high as the contestants progresses to the next round.
Overall this is a fun show to watch together as a family. It shows how mistakes can be made and to never let disappointments burn a person’s spirit.
β Educational point : Introduces children to a variety of food from different cultures.
Also, teaches them how fun it can be to cook together as a family. A great way to get children to help parents in the kitchen.
Age suitability : 9+
4. Wild Kratts
The show is about two zoologists adventure on exploring the wild throughout the world to learn about different animal special.
Plenty of humor in the show which makes it fun for children to watch while they learn about animal endangerment.
β Educational point: It helps builds excitement in science and introduces children to a variety of animal species and teaches them about science.
Each episode also addresses an environmental issue that children should know about.
Age suitability : 8+

There are many celebrities appearing on this show and also a music video at the end of each espisode. This show is educational and also fun to watch.

This show is about the biggest engineering achievements in the world. From sky scrapers, to bridges, and many more.
3.Dino Hunt
Scientists goes into exploration projects to learn more about fossils and new unique species.
4. I am Kalam
Teach students about other cultures. This show is about a child inspired by India’s president.
